Conclusion of " fundamentals of Microfinance Course - 3 "September 2023

Namaa   Academy for Microfinance, in collaboration with the General Authority for Small and Micro Projects Development, concluded the 21st and 22nd training program titled "Fundamentals of Microfinance" on Sunday, 18th of Safar 1445 AH, September 3rd, 2023. The program spanned four days for each session, with three hours of training per day, and had a total of 38 participants from the Authority's employees and other organizations.

The program aimed to equip the participants with the skills of microfinance, introduce them to the nature, importance, and methodology of microfinance, as well as the principles of beneficiary protection and the mutual responsibilities with funders. It also emphasized the significance of small projects, entrepreneurship, and their role in achieving sustainable development.

The program included training the participants on the tasks of finance specialists, distinguishing between small, medium, and large projects, familiarizing them with the types and sources of financing, the role of finance specialists, the finance cycle, different financial statements, and how to benefit from important global experiences in microfinance to enhance the microfinance sector in Yemen.

During the program's closing ceremony, Mohammed Ali Al-Faran, the head manager of Namaa Small & Microfinance and NBC  Academy, expressed the readiness of the foundation and the academy to implement training programs in the field of small and micro projects. Their goal is to promote and strengthen the culture of microfinance and small projects in society, given their significant importance in driving development, combating poverty, and reducing unemployment.

Al-Faran also highlighted that the academy successfully conducted dozens of training programs in microfinance and raising awareness about small projects and their importance, benefiting over 600 trainees from various official and community foundations across all governorates of the Republic in the past year.

On another note, Ahmed Al-Kabsi, the President of the General Authority for Small and Micro Projects Development, emphasized the importance of such courses and their implementation. He stated that these courses are just the beginning of more advanced courses in collaboration with Namaa   Foundation and the Academy for Microfinance. Al-Kabsi pointed out that small projects employ more than 70% of the workforce and have shown resilience in the country's current circumstances.

Al-Kabsi urged for coordination among all participants and the exchange of experiences, emphasizing the necessity of pushing forward in this field due to its importance. He concluded his speech by affirming the Authority's readiness to receive all proposals and opinions that contribute to the development of the microfinance sector in Yemen.

The course instructor, Sabur Al-Shami, encouraged the participants to apply what they have learned and continue their development in this field due to its significance.
