Life Restoration

Al-Zaidiyyah District, located in the Hodeidah Governorate, is an area that faces more significant challenges of poverty and water scarcity than any of its other regions. One of the initiatives undertaken in this area is a water project, which involves collaboration among several partners and aims to address the hardships faced by the community.

Adham Mohsen, the water project manager, encountered difficulties in fully irrigating the territory and delivering water to households due to the high cost of diesel fuel and its unreliability at times. In search of an alternative solution, they approached Nama for Small and Microfinance Foundation to seek funding. They were able to purchase a solar system that covered 70% of their daily water consumption, while the remaining 30% continued to rely on diesel.

The funding not only helped the project team but also enabled them to expand the project and involve more participants. This success served as motivation for them to request additional funding from  Nama Foundation. With the newfound support, they were able to work on a significant water line that connected various agricultural areas.

Looking ahead, Adham emphasizes the need for further funding to improve the overall quality of life in the future. Their plans include financing a well, constructing a reservoir, and acquiring a solar water pumping system to fully meet the water needs of the entire Zaidiyyah District. Adham concludes by stating, "Doing good is the best way to thank Allah.".
