Nama’a Development and Microfinance Foundation celebrated in Sana’a the graduation of 250 refugees—men and women—who completed the 2024 training programs under the Refugee Livelihoods Improvement Project, implemented by the Foundation in partnership with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). The event was attended by representatives from the National Committee for Refugee Affairs, several government officials, international organizations, and families of the graduates.
The ceremony coincided with the celebration of World Youth Skills Day 2025, reflecting Nama’a Foundation’s and UNHCR’s joint commitment to supporting youth and refugee empowerment by enhancing their professional and life skills.
The event began with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an, followed by a moment of silence in honor of the martyrs of Palestine — a gesture of solidarity with the Palestinian cause.
This was followed by a presentation on the project’s achievements, including a visual report showcasing the highlights of the Refugee Livelihoods Improvement Project and its significant role in enabling refugees to gain diverse professional skills.
The ceremony also featured artistic performances, short plays, and success stories that demonstrated the project’s importance and its positive impact on participants’ lives.
During the event, graduates from training programs in tailoring and fashion design, pastry and confectionery making, solar energy system installation and maintenance, English language, computer and graphic design, and Arabic language at the Nama’a Training Center were honored—along with top students from long-term vocational education programs.
Training kits were also distributed to outstanding graduates from short-term vocational programs as part of Nama’a’s continued support to help them transition into the labor market and sustain their livelihoods beyond the training phase.
In his speech, Mr. Mohammed Al-Farran, Chairman of Nama’a Foundation and Director of the Refugee Livelihoods Improvement Project, extended his gratitude to the National Committee for Refugee Affairs for their continuous cooperation and to UNHCR for their generous support. He praised the joint efforts to enhance refugee livelihoods and self-reliance, reaffirming Nama’a’s commitment to providing dignified living opportunities and strengthening humanitarian resilience.
On behalf of the National Committee for Refugee Affairs, Dr. Ahmed Al-Imad expressed his appreciation to UNHCR and Nama’a Foundation for their collaborative efforts in supporting and training refugees, wishing for the continuation of such impactful initiatives that serve refugee communities.
The ceremony witnessed a large turnout of officials and representatives of international organizations, in a festive atmosphere that reflected the project’s positive impact on beneficiaries’ lives and showcased inspiring success stories of young refugees who overcame challenges and took meaningful steps toward a better future.
