Nama’a Foundation Signs Agreement with Chinese Firm to Establish Marine Waste Processing Plant in Yemen

In a bold step toward promoting circular economy and sustainable investment, Nama’a Development and Microfinance Foundation, represented by Chairman Mohammed Al-Farran, has signed an agreement with Miao Jingang, General Manager of Zhanjiang Allcare Biological Co. Ltd, a leading Chinese company in marine biotechnology, to establish a specialized plant in Yemen for processing fish and seafood waste.

The project aims to convert marine by-products into high-value products such as gelatin, protein powders, and animal feed, with a focus on exporting to Asian markets, particularly China. It represents a vital step in reducing waste across marine supply chains and creating new economic opportunities.

The partnership will also include the development of integrated model farms for fish and shrimp aquaculture, strengthening Yemen’s aquaculture sector, and supporting sustainable local production for related marine industries.

Zhanjiang Allcare brings deep expertise in marine waste processing and the production of export-grade goods like gelatin, fish skins, and animal proteins, in addition to its active role in importing and exporting marine raw materials, making it a trusted partner for developing marine-based bio-industries in Yemen.

This partnership marks a strategic move to build a local production base that harnesses Yemen’s natural marine resources and transforms them into globally competitive products, boosting value-added supply chains and supporting the country’s sustainable development goals.

Through this agreement, Nama’a Foundation reaffirms its commitment to expanding its development impact through innovative production ventures that energize the local economy and unlock new opportunities for inclusive national growth.
